Getting to Waikiki
After the ocean crossing, no doubt
you'll be eager to get settled as
soon as possible in your Waikiki
apartment. The two most common, most
affordable means of transportation
are multi-passenger buses and rental
cars.
Airport Shuttle Buses
There are several different companies
providing bus service to Waikiki.
Personally, we recommend the large
buses that you will find in front
of the baggage claim area across
from the first lane of traffic. The
bus stop is clearly marked and the
current fare is $8.00 per person
one-way.
The bus makes several stops en route
to your condominium building, so
you'll have a great chance to tour
the Waikiki area at no extra charge.
How is that for a positive spin?
The driver is familiar with all
the condominium buildings, so just
give him the name of where you'll
be staying.
Rental Cars
 You
will also find the pick-up area for
rental car shuttle vans in front
of baggage claim across from the
first lane of traffic.
The easiet, most scenic way to get
to Waikiki is via Nimitz Highway.
As you exit the airport, turn right
and simply follow the traffic until
you find yourself in Waikiki. The
rental car personnel can give you
more specific information.
You need not make any turns until
you are in Waikiki at the intersection
of Ala Moana Blvd. and Kalakaua Avenue,
which is Waikiki's "main street."
Turn right here.
Proceed eastbound (toward Diamond
Head) on Kalakaua until you reach
Seaside Avenue. Turn left there and
proceed to our office at 413, on
the right-hand side of the road.
Driving in downtown Honolulu or
Waikiki is just like driving anywhere
else, if you're used to driving on
the right side of the road. In fact,
you might be surprised by the aloha
drivers show one another. For instance,
the Hawaiian custom is that drivers
allow you to enter the traffic from
driveways, filling stations, etc.
Even in heavy traffic, you rarely
hear horns.
Whatever your means of transportation,
you will begin to unwind as you near
wonderful Waikiki.
